James Wilhite – President/Owner

Mr. Wilhite received his Bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Horticulture with a minor both in Business and Biology.  He has accumulated 38 years of experience, with 35 of that operating Wilhite Landscape.  He personally enjoys anything outdoors, crafting his own wine and beer, and traveling as well.

Erin Smith – Maintenance Manager

Ms. Smith received her Bachelor’s and Master’s from Stephen F. Austin State University in Horticulture and Agriculture Science.  She grew up on a family owned nursery based out of Dallas, Tx. Her experience tallies up to going on 23 years now. Ms. Smith serves on the Smith County Horticulture Education Committee. Her passions are Jesus, Animals, Plants, and her collection of rocks, more importantly in that order. 

Jessica Ross – Bed Maintenance Manager

Ms. Ross attended Stephen F. Austin State University in pursuit of her degree in Horticulture with a minor in Biology. She has 19 years of experience in various fields of Horticulture. Ms. Ross currently holds the position of Landscape Director for TNLA Region 3. She also serves on the State level for Women in Horticulture Committee for TNLA. Ms. Ross was born and raised in East Texas. She is the mother of a daughter who is her pride and joy. Second in line is her 4-legged daughter, a Yellow Lab.  Family and friends are an important part in her life. 

John Braun – Landscape Manager

Mr. Braun has been a landscape designer and department manage for Wilhite Landscape for the past 22 years and has been in the Landscape industry since 1979. He is also active in the TNLA serving as Secretary for Region 3.  He is also very active in several ministries with his church.  Mr. Braun draws from his many years of experience to create beautiful, relaxing landscape settings for our clients and his goal to create long-lasting relationships through professional, reliable service. John, his wife Dawn of 29 years, and 2 daughters have lived in the Tyler area since 1991.

David Ansley – Chem-Shrub Manager

Mr. Ansley graduated from John Tyler High School to continue his education at TJC for Business Management. In addition, he received certification with the International Society of Arboriculture.  David has a total of combined experience of 20 years, with the later part here with Wilhite Landscape.  His passion is woodworking.  He grew up with his father building items with his hands and found it to be amazing with unlimited potential.  Mr. Ansley started with small projects such as bird houses and eventually tackled larger projects such as furniture pieces.

David Covey – Irrigation Manager

David graduated high school in Ft. Worth and then attended Tarrant County Junior College where he studied Horticulture. He has been in the landscape industry for 32 years and attained such goals as Texas Master Certified Nursery Professional, Licensed Irrigator, and Certified Backflow Tester. David has been in Tyler for 15 years and 10 of those with Wilhite. He loves God, ballroom dancing with his beautiful wife Ginnie, cruising, bowling, fishing, and hunting.

Dorothy Featherston – Assistant Office Manager

Mrs. Featherston was born and raised in Tyler, TX.  She attended TJC were she studied account.  Her overall experience has accumulated to 18 years. She has been with Wilhite for just a short time with anticipation of many years to come.  She loves the Lord, her family, helping others, gardening, reading, & animals, most importantly horses.

Sharon Hipp – Office Manager

Mrs. Hipp graduate high school in Ft. Worth and then attended TJC along side her daughter in 2003.  She was born in England but has been a Texas since 1976.  Her administration career adds up to 30 years in the field, primarily in the DFW area.  She moved to Tyler in 1995 when she originally joined the Wilhite team.  She left for a number of years, but is back in our office and is delighted that Mr. Wilhite still has cats to work with.  Mrs. Hipp adores her many grandchildren, likes to read, and has recently become a lover of RV camping.

Jim Harris – Shop Manager

Mr. Harris has 28 years of experience in various stages of automotive services and repair.  Nineteen of those years are experienced in truck, trailer, and equipment fleet maintenance and repair.  His expertise is primarily in lawncare and landscape industry. Jim has been with Wilhite Landscape for 8 years now.  He is in charge of managing our Mechanical Maintenance and Repair Department.  He currently takes a large part in servicing, repairing, and refurbishing our trucks, trailers and equipment.  Mr. Harris has 2 beautiful granddaughters who he adores.  In his spare time, he enjoys the challenges of crossword puzzles, working out, and spending time on his own truck and motorcycle projects.
